How to Set Up Social Buzz
- •Step 1: Select a stock and choose Social Buzz from the Alternative Data category
- •Step 2: Choose whether you want strong discussion or fading interest
- •Step 3: Choose email or SMS and save the alert
When the alert is created, StockAlert.pro captures a private starting baseline for both Reddit and X. The hourly monitor then checks live attention against the previous completed UTC day. A temporary problem on one platform does not prevent the other platform from being evaluated, and the two sources are never averaged together.
What the Two Directions Mean
| Direction | What It Detects | Useful For |
|---|---|---|
| Strong discussion | High current attention or a sharp live increase from the previous completed day | Finding stocks receiving new or sustained attention |
| Fading interest | A sharp live decline from previously elevated attention | Watching enthusiasm cool after a crowded discussion cycle |
How Signals Are Kept Reliable
- •Reddit and X are evaluated separately; a qualifying signal on either platform can trigger the alert
- •Incomplete or invalid provider data is ignored instead of treated as a real market signal
- •The same hourly observation is never evaluated twice
- •A triggered Social Buzz alert is one-shot and can be manually reactivated with a fresh comparison point
When to Use
- •You want an attention signal alongside price, volume, earnings, or insider alerts
- •You follow event-driven stocks where public discussion can change quickly
- •You want to know which platform produced the qualifying signal without manually tracking social feeds
When Not to Use
- •As a standalone instruction to buy or sell a stock
- •For minute-by-minute social monitoring; Social Buzz checks once per hour
- •As a replacement for checking fundamentals, liquidity, news context, and price action
